Choosing a new garage door for a Perth home
Most garage door replacement starts with a door that still moves but has had enough: a tilt door that keeps breaking springs, a roller curtain gone chalky after years of western sun, or a panel door with more dents than a single-panel swap can fix. What goes in its place is nearly always one of three designs. Sectional garage doors rise in hinged panels and slide back under the ceiling, and they suit most double garages built from the 1990s on. Fitting a standard residential door generally takes part of a day, including removing the old one and connecting the opener. The longer wait is before that: the door is made to your measurements, so the maker's build time sets the date. We confirm it with you when the order goes in, and a door that needs changes to the opening is flagged at the measure.
We advise against it. A sectional door's torsion springs and a roller door's drum springs store a lot of energy once tensioned, and winding or releasing them without the right bars and clamps is how people get hurt. The door itself is heavy and awkward to hang square, and a poorly balanced door wears out its opener quickly. If you want to save money, choosing a standard size and colour does more than doing the fitting yourself.
