Privacy Policy

Who this policy covers
This website and the garage door business behind it are run by Alaa Alzayadi, trading as ABC Garage Door Repairs (ABN 52 109 217 634). In this policy "we" and "us" mean that business. It sets out, in plain terms, which personal details reach us through the site, the phone and the booking tools, what we do with them, and what you can ask us to do.
We aim to handle personal information the way the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) describe, to the extent those principles apply to a business of our size.
What reaches us
Depending on how you get in touch, we may end up holding:
- contact details you give us: your name, phone number, email address and the address of the job
- a description of the door, the fault or the work you want done, and any access notes
- photos or short videos you attach to a quote request
- the text of conversations with the assistant on this site. An AI service reads each message in order to write a reply, and we keep the conversation so we can pick up the enquiry later, so please leave out anything you would rather not have stored
- notes from phone calls, and the history of work we have done at your address
- technical information about your visit, such as the pages opened, the device and browser type, and the website or ad that sent you here
Why we use it
- to price the job, book a time, turn up at the right address and do the work
- to contact you about that booking, including changes to the arrival time and any follow-up
- to keep a record of what was fitted or repaired, in case the same door needs us again
- to work out which pages and ads lead to enquiries, so we spend less on the ones that don't
- to keep the financial and tax records Australian law asks a business to keep
We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't hand your details to other businesses for their own marketing. If we ever send you a follow-up or reminder you did not want, tell us and it stops.
Cookies and site measurement
When you first open the site we set a cookie holding a random visitor number. It carries no name or contact detail. Its job is to connect a quote request to the page or ad that brought you, so we can tell which of our pages actually help people.
The site also loads these measurement tools, which set cookies of their own:
- Google Analytics, which counts visits and shows which pages people read
- Google Ads measurement, which tells us when an ad visit ends in a call or an enquiry
You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site keeps working without them; we simply lose sight of how visitors found us. Google also publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics on every site.
Other companies that handle it
A small business runs on other people's software. Your details may pass through the companies that host this website and our booking system, store uploaded photos, deliver our emails and messages, run the chat assistant, keep our accounts, and provide the measurement tools named above. Each one gets only what it needs for that task. Some of them keep data on servers outside Australia.
We will also release information where a law, a court or a regulator requires it.
How long we keep it and how it is protected
Job and invoice records are kept for as long as tax rules require, which is generally five years, and a job history stays on file while it is useful for future visits to the same door. We aim not to keep enquiries that never became a job for longer than they are useful.
Access to our systems is limited to the people who run the business, accounts are password protected, and the site only accepts encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No online system can be made completely secure, so if we ever learn of a breach that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you.
Seeing, fixing or deleting your details
Ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, and we will send it. If something is wrong or out of date we will correct it, and if you want it removed we will delete it, apart from records we are legally required to keep. We may need to confirm who you are before releasing anything.
If you think we have mishandled your information, raise it with us first so we can put it right. If our answer does not settle it, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au can advise whether it is able to take up the complaint.
Changes and contact
