The Professional range on a lot of older Perth double garages. Gear kits, sensors, boards and remotes — and a straight answer when a unit has had its run.

LiftMaster
LiftMaster garage door openers are serviced and repaired across Perth by our technicians — the LM60 and LM1000 Professional units in particular, which are common above older sectional doors here. Gear kits, sensors, capacitors and remotes are all ordinary repairs; the honest limit is a failed control board on a unit old enough that boards are no longer made.

LiftMaster Professional openers have been going onto Australian sectional doors for a long time, and the LM60 and LM1000 units are the ones we meet most in Perth. They are solid, mechanical machines — chain or belt drive, a simple rail, a sprocket and a gear kit — and most of what fails on them is replaceable.
The gear kit is the classic. A LiftMaster that runs, sounds normal and does nothing has almost always shredded its drive gear, which is a routine part to replace on these units. Sensors are next: the beam across the opening is what makes a door reverse before it closes, and after a decade the wiring or the alignment usually needs attention.
Where we will tell you to stop is a failed logic board on an older unit. Boards are the one part with a genuine end of life, and on an opener that is already twenty years old, a board that costs most of a new motor is not a repair worth making. We would rather say that than take the job.

Most call-outs end in a repair. Here is how we decide — and what we would say if it were our own garage.
We fit belt-drive openers with soft start and stop, a safety reverse and phone control, matched to the weight and type of your door rather than to whatever is nearest to hand. The old unit goes with us, and the technician who quotes it is the one who fits it.
A motor is only ever as good as the door under it, so the springs and balance get checked and set before the new opener is trusted with the weight.

That is usually a gear kit, and usually worth doing. Tell us the model on the label and we will bring one.
