Either the remote is not transmitting or the opener is not receiving. Test with the wall button first: if the door works there, the opener and door are healthy and you are looking at a battery, a lost pairing, a receiver fault or interference. If the wall button also does nothing, the problem is the opener or its power, and the remote is a red herring. That single test saves most people the cost of a remote they did not need.

On most Australian openers you press and release the learn or code button on the powerhead — usually behind the light cover — then press the remote button within a few seconds until the light flashes or the unit clicks. The exact sequence differs by brand, and on several older units you must clear the whole memory first, which un-pairs every other remote in the house.
